The angels came calling, but she told them no.
Her granddaughters smile, her eyes once more must behold.
The angels returned, but still she told them no.
The fight was bitter. The pain unbearable. If the true story be told.
The angels waited, waited so patiently though.
She saw them waiting, but she wasn’t ready, she needed everyone to know.
But, the angles they stayed, waiting, waiting so patiently though.
She saw them there waiting, day in and day out, and she must know,
The angels they will not leave until she agrees to go.
Her body weak, her spirit weary, she held out her hand, and
The angles took her to where the living can not go.
The children cried, they begged and they pleaded,
No, no, angels please you must know,
I can’t live without her, please, please angels do not go.
Dedicated to my sister, Rebecca “Becky” Haynes. You fought a good fight, Sis. Rest peacefully in God’s embrace. I’ll see you soon.
